Praise the Positive

How often does it happen that we didn’t like the food at a restaurant or an experience at a store or a hotel or a flight (for ex.) and we immediately leave a bad review on the internet?

How often has a public figure, be it a politician, or an entertainer or a sportsperson said something unnecessary and we immediately blew it out of proportion?

At the same time, how often have you written a good review after having an amazing meal at a restaurant? Or a positive review for a hotel or a flight after a good experience?

How often have you praised another colleague or a friend or an acquaintance after something good happened in their personal or professional lives? (not the inner circle, generally the friends in your life)

As a society, every individual is to blame. Because it is us who make the society collectively negative, with each one contributing by either a negative opinion or not praising the positive or also by staying silent.

Of those three, I want to focus on praising the positive in this post.

Let this be a challenge, let this be a movement. Every time we see something good happening, we build it as a habit to praise it, praise the positive.

In our circle, whether with friends or acquaintances or colleagues or juniors or seniors, whether on social media or offline, whether a personal accomplishment or a professional win, we’ll take that effort in praising the positive.

Whether we had a good meal somewhere, or had a wonderful experience at any place, through social media, or at least in person, we’ll take that initiative in praising the positive.

We cannot talk of everything else and not social media! Either the people we follow, or the community we’ve built, we will support whenever possible, we’ll praise the positive whenever we see it.

It’s this decision, this affirmation to make change possible when you see change happening. It’s this tiny step of you praising the positive, when you start noticing positive things happening in your life as well. This level of positivity will bring joy, energy, happiness and success along with it, you just need to be positive and praise the positive.

De-clutter In and Out

When you actually take the time out and take a look at your surroundings (your personal space, your work space, your wardrobe, your house) and at the same time, a look within yourself too, you’ll notice that there’s a lot of clutter around.

That cluttering leads to congestion of space which hinders the space for freshness and growth.

An unarranged pile of papers or books has an effect on your thoughts and ideas and execution too.

An unarranged pile of clothes, an unfolded bedsheet, an untidy home has an effect on the positive thoughts that you’re trying to attract.

When you de-clutter your exterior surroundings, it gives you the organized space needed for your growth. The cleanliness leads to clean thoughts within you. The openness leads to more ideas within you.

Although, it doesn’t end there.

What more is needed, is a de-clutter within yourself too. Once the exterior is done, then its time to work on the interior. The negative thoughts, the toxic thoughts, the comparisons, the ego, the arrogance, the discouraging opinions is all a part of the de-clutter.

The in-and-out de-clutter leads to a positive space around you and within you – a space for more positivity, for more confidence, for more growth, for more ideas and for more execution too.

We all face negative moments in the micro!

Yes, we all do!

No one has a perfect life! Don’t even have that illusion!

Now that we have that cleared up, these minute negative moments during the day could happen due to various reasons.

Usually, because things didn’t turn out the way we expected and now we’re in dismay!

Although, here’s the issue.

When these minute, different moments build up, they make you feel that you can’t do this, you can’t do that.

Because of such thoughts, the other results in the day-to-day overturn too.

It’s a cause and effect scenario here!

These moments, ultimately, lead to a loss in confidence.

Resulting in macro negatives in life.

However…

How can you not let this happen?

How can you change the process?

Well, you can’t stop the thoughts or the moments from happening. It’s a part of life.

However, what you can do is, nip it in the bud.

What does that mean?

When that first negative moment happens, either as a thought or an action or a moment, you cannot let it affect your life.

Sure, you can retrospect about it.

But, don’t let it bother your mind.

Don’t let it overshadow your day.

Don’t let it overcome the positive things happening in your life.

At these times, you overpower these situations with positivity.

That’s the answer.

Perspective – Gratitude – Empathy are the answers.

Sure, it’s easier said than done. But, practice makes it perfect.

One day at a time.

Nonetheless, negative moments do happen, all you can do is tackle them the right way and see the greener side of the grass.

No matter how the day’s events have unfolded, the mindset is that it’s such a good day to start having a good day!

When you change your perspective, when you change your thought process, things start changing!

Now you have a positive approach towards your day!

Sure, that’s micro, but that’s what leads to a macro positive approach as well.

With this thought process, you will feel good, irrespective of a few certain events which might have made it otherwise.

Above all, it’s always a good day when you get to live another day, ain’t it!?

Spewing hatred towards someone only fills your own mind with negativity, not anyone else’s.

Your hate doesn’t bring the other person down, but yourself! And why would you put yourself in that position?

What’s the other option?

To love all, no matter what! Spread Love whenever, wherever!

For you, for your mind, you do the right thing – be kind, be grateful, have empathy towards the other person and spread love – you’re putting your mind in a position where nothing else should affect you!

In every situation, you have two options – focus on the positive or focus on the negative.

Most of the times, we look at the downside – this shouldn’t have happened with me/ why did this happen / am I the only one / what more can I do/ why am I not getting anything

This leads to unhappiness, self-doubt, fixed mindset, negative thoughts, negative actions.

How can you be happy then? How can you have more? How can you grow?
There’s only one answer.

You can learn to always see the good in situations, in people. You can cherish that you get the opportunity to do anything in the first place. You can be grateful for the things you have. You can be happy with everything that life has given you.

You have the power to do all this.

Focusing on the positive allows you to do this.

It breathes a new life into you, a new mindset, fresher thoughts, positive actions, a new you.

Why wouldn’t anyone want that?

We get so entangled in our day-to-day lives, with “chasing happiness”, with “attaining success” that we are always chasing something.

When was the last time we focused on ourselves? When did we take a step back or rather stayed still and thought about us – who we are?

I was the person I’m referring to, in the first paragraph! I had been living it, without realizing the mistakes – because that’s what the society taught us, because that’s how everything is around us.

Something clicked within me, that things are going good but I’m not content with it. That its time for a change. That I’ve to change myself, in order to grow.

When you ponder over yourself, when your only goal is to learn more, about what is right – you seek knowledge and nothing else.

And in this process, you improve yourself. Improve as a better version of yourself! A 2.0, if that explains better.

With a good period of time spent on this and having realized that the process is long but enjoyable – I learnt this, the only way forward is to improve yourself and nothing else.

We fall for worldly possessions because we see someone else accomplish something and now we want the same.

Someone else means your friends, your colleagues, and even those you follow on social media. The current trend is tied in with posting every expensive stuff you buy or do on social media. Now more than ever, it’s about telling others what you are doing rather than for your self-interest!

Ask yourself three questions the next time you do anything,
1. Am I buying this product/service because of self-interest?
2. Is this bringing value to me?
3. Do you care about other’s opinions?

There’s a mindset ingrained in us since childhood, about working Monday to Friday and then enjoying the weekends!

Everyone hates Mondays and calls it the ‘Monday Blues’! Come Wednesday; people start talking about their Friday and Saturday Night plans. Why?
There’s no harm to enjoy the day off but first, live each day to its fullest. Maximise your potential for that particular day, and when the time comes, you cool it off!

Bars and clubs out there have started exploiting this weekend mindset and provide you with mid-week and Friday night offers. Falling into their traps, you spend thousands of hard-earned bucks on just three-four hours worth of satisfaction and luxury, only to do it the next week again. Moreover, what are you achieving out of it?

Think about it from the long-term perspective. Does that activity bring any value addition to your life? People have their own choices, but at the same time, enjoy your other days too instead of wasting them on something you don’t love; only to wait for the weekends and curse Monday yet again.

Do what you love every day, rather than waiting for the Fridays and Saturdays.

Weekends are a boon to us! How about productively executing it to achieve your goals? Work on your personal development, act on those goals we’ve been trying to accomplish, finish your side hustle project! These points only matter when you know your vision!

Everyone has stressful and frustrating days at work, although, there’s a catch!

When you’re passionate about your work, then those days don’t worry you as much, and at the same time, you know it will improve from there on!

The opportunities are endless today; anyone can pursue their interests in any manner they want!

It’s about self-education and self-learning, understanding from your own mistakes!

This is the first thing you should do when you wake up in the morning.

When you wake up in the morning, making your own bed should be your first pursuit. Here’s why!

A. Habits Creation
It starts with a small step. Doing this every day helps you create a pattern, which then gives you the confidence to develop more habits for yourself, thus making your day more productive and organised.

B. Winning Mindset
Everyone says the same thing in the morning, ‘My bed is calling out to me; thus I need to sleep more.’ Making your own bed creates that WIN in your mind, that if I can conquer this first task in the day, it instills the mindset to overcome the other activities as well.

C. Achieving Confidence
When you’ve had bad days at work, when you struggle with your daily activities, and you come home and see the bed you made for yourself, it gives you the confidence that if I could achieve this micro task in the morning, I’ll wake up the next day and try accomplishing the rest of the day as well.

If you’re waking up early in the morning, or at least, if you’re making your own bed, you’re on a path to have an excellent start to the day/ achieved significant success in the morning with the entire day to conquer more.

If you aren’t, start doing so and notice how different your day turns out!

Every time you meet someone, the question boils down to, “How’s work going on?

With me, the conversation comes down to two questions, “How many clients do you have?” and “How many employees do you have?” apart from the general question above.

When was the last time someone asked you, or you asked someone, “Are you Happy?

Because, it starts and ends with that, happiness. Are you Happy in your life? Are you Happy at your work? Happiness is not a chase, but a journey, a state that we should live in every day!

Next time you meet someone, for a change, pose this question and see how meaningful the conversation turns out to be! ❤️
