How do we do that?
By changing how we think, how we communicate, how we react, our habits, our goals, our purpose, how to upgrade yourself to a better version, what to eat, what to drink, what not to do and the why behind everything.

Once we learn this and once we learn to rewire our brain, we upgrade ourselves to a better and improved version of ourselves than before. That is adding the zazz to our life.

You know what’s easy?

To be positive when you’re in a relaxed, calm and peaceful state of mind.

It’s easy to think right, act right and do right in such a situation.

You’re in an empowering situation at that time.

The trick is when the situation is against you.

What happens then?

If you aren’t able to keep your cool and calm on your thoughts, on your words coming out of your mouth, on your actions…

It means you’re still not ready.

It means you still have to grow.

It means you’re not in control of your emotions.

It means you still have a lot to learn.

However, the more important part of this equation is for you to realize that.

Focusing on the Negative is easy!

Did that confuse you?

Or are you more curious now?

Focusing on the negative is easy, because negativity is everywhere!

We are surrounded by it. You don’t even have to search for it.

With thoughts, actions, conversations, habits, time, in every phase of life can we have some negativity and then we can dwell about something going wrong or rather, something not going our way.

It’s the opposite, i.e. positivity that requires efforts.

At least, initially.

It requires efforts to find some positivity around you and to then let it form your life. To let it have that positive effect on your thoughts, on your habits, on your actions, literally everywhere.

Being molded by positivity requires efforts to remove the existing negativity from your life, and at the same time, to not get absorbed by it in the future.

Let me elaborate that!

Even when you walk the path of positivity, you will still get negative thoughts, you might still dwell about something, you might still feel low, but this time, it won’t hinder your life for long and now you’ll know how to get over it.

Focusing on Negativity is easy, it’s the opposite that requires efforts.

When you fear something, you start fearing it even more, it leads to anxiety and stress and over-thinking about it.

That is what is happening with the current situation as well.

We constantly fear of it. Not that we shouldn’t be careful, but we shouldn’t be in constant fear of it too.

Fear is a form of negativity in our mind, it brings a negative reaction in our brain, which further leads to a decrease in our immunity system as well.

On the other hand, love plays the complete opposite role of that. Loving ourselves more, loving others around us, spreading that love around has that very positive affect on our mind and body.

Thus, fear less and love more is something that is apt for us right now and should be on our minds, at all times.

If there’s a lesson to be learnt here, it’s that no matter how much you prepare, no matter where you are in the life graph, there are times when some things are out of your control and you cannot do anything about it.

You have to roll with the flow; your overthinking or worrying or stress won’t change anything at all.

Its just how things are, and life brings us such moments from time to time to make us realize that.

All we can then do, is to work on things that are actually in our control – you know what’s in your control – your mindset/ your thoughts/ your habits – you can work on them/ make mistakes/ master yourself at it and know that when things spiral out of control, these things in my control are my assets which no one can steal from me.

5 Positives and 1 Negative

This is the most common reason most of us drop out of something we’re interested in, we get disappointed, we feel disturbed.

It’s all because of this one reason.

It’s called 5 Positives and 1 Negative.

Do you have any idea what I’m talking about?

Let me explain my perspective on this topic and you let me know whether you agree or not.

Whenever we do something in life, could be w.r.t. anything.

Literally, anything.

What happens after is the issue.

People meet, people discuss, people share their opinions about that something with you.

Now it always boils down to this very situation.

Whilst sharing their opinions, usually, you’ll get a lot of love, support, positive feedback, which also includes constructive criticism.

You’ll be happy after hearing/reading to all of this.

P. S. This could be face-to-face with people you know, it could be with friends and family, it could be online, on comments or groups, you get the picture.

However, here’s when things take a turn.

Amidst all of this, you get that one negative opinion as well.

Its a part and parcel of the equation.

One negative opinion which revolves around, “Why are you doing this?” “What are you going to get out of this?” “This is not even important” and various such opinions.

These opinions usually take a toll on you.

This is what I’d like to call 5 Positives and 1 Negative.

Where, in every situation, you’ll notice five positive approaches and one negative approach.

And that one negative approach overpowers the entire equation and that’s where you end up focusing.

Not the other 5 or 500 or 5 million positive comments or opinions that you received.

As a usual approach to life, we end up focusing on that one negative, it eats us up.

Why that negative? How can we change that? Was the person right?

And that’s where the problem lies.

That’s what we need to change.

Speak about this issue, make everyone aware and shun that negative voice altogether.

What more can be done?

Well, ultimately, the approach should be to enjoy the process. Enjoy why we are doing that certain something.

Be grateful for all the love and support and criticism, but altogether, do it for yourself, for the love of it.

So, as a result, nothing affects you at all.

See the Good.

See the Good.

Good things happen in our lives and some not so good things happen in our lives.

Depends on how you define not so good, could be with respect to your day, your year, your work, your relationships, or just life in general.

However, the choice to see the good is ours.

See the good that has happened in our lives.

Until now!

And what will continue to happen in the future!

See the good in living another day!

See the good in being physically and mentally fit.

See the good in continuously getting opportunities in our lives.

See the good that you have your family and loved ones around you.

There’s so much good in your life that you can continue to list them down.

However, it is up to you to see the good.

When you see the positive, good things happen in your life as well.

Simple as that.

Sure, that’s micro, but that’s what leads to a macro positive approach as well.

With this thought process, you will feel good, irrespective of a few certain events which might have made it otherwise.

Above all, it’s always a good day when you get to live another day, ain’t it!?

Our human brain is in a constant thought process – it is said that, in a single day, you think upto 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts in a day.

Yes, that many thoughts!

Every thought has its own importance, said that, quite often there are thoughts that have no value to us at all. These unwanted thoughts are sometimes negative too – towards us, or towards someone else.

The problem is, when you think about such things a lot, and now the brain gets the signal to think accordingly.

What can you do? You can train your mind to think in a certain way, to think of certain topics and to not think of certain topics.

Think about what you think and act accordingly!

Every day you have the chance to live a new day – it’s up to you, whether you want to or not.

Why did William Jones say, “Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power”? What does it mean?

When you feel pessimistic in a situation, or towards something you want to do, you have already lost hope, you’ve already set a result in your mind which is surrounded with self-doubt. Before you’ve even started, you have given in already.

On the other hand, when you feel optimistic, when you feel positive, when you see it as half glass full, you’ve hope, you’ve the desire, no matter the circumstances, you will walk on the path you’ve set in your mind – now, that’s power.

That power comes from your thought, your hope, your desire, which was missing in the first scenario – which made you weak.

Simply put, when you feel/think pessimistic, it makes you weak and when you feel/think positive, it gives you power even before you’ve started.

Choosing between a positive or a negative thought?

Choosing between a positive or a negative thought?

If you had a choice, what would you pick – a positive thought or a negative thought? The answer seems easy, right?

Even though you know what you’d pick, even though you understand the depth, the potential behind a positive thought, yet in our day-to-day, we let the negative thoughts take over our day.

It could be super basic from frustrations of the traffic to reaching late at the office to getting cream on your coffee (when you didn’t ask for it), it could be anything and everything. Of course, these are only the basic scenarios and it only gets worse.

We don’t have control over our thoughts, over our emotions. And that’s why, the negativity takes over. The tiredness, the frustrations, the stress, not getting results – all stems from that.

A single post like this can only bring awareness about this, not the solution – but, what can be done is this – initially, after every action or every thought – call yourself out and check whether that thought or action was positive or negative! A simple exercise like this could do wonders for you and you wouldn’t imagine how!

There are times in one’s life when they think something’s not working out, in whatever phase of life, or are probably stuck with something that isn’t allowing them to grow.

At such times, does the point of change come up, when you have to ask yourself what kind of change are you looking for?

To add to that, even though it is about taking a decision and moving forward in that direction, the process is still difficult – because it requires patience and efforts to actually change and to get on a better path that will improve your life.

During these moments in life, you have to ask yourself these two questions – what kind of change are you looking for and is it the kind of change that you’re willing to accept?

The answer’s always within you!

There are two situations in our lives, one where things are in our control and the other where they aren’t.

The problem arises when we start overthinking about those things that aren’t in our control and worry about their effect on our lives.

We overthink, we worry, we try to prepare for events beforehand and yet all of it is in vain – why – because it’s not in our control.

If we spend that time on ourselves, on our mindset, on our thoughts, on our actions, on our behaviour – the things which are in our control – we’d be better off because we are now in control, not letting the external factors affect us at all, no matter their consequences on us.

I legit sucked at writing anything. My marks in school clearly defined that. Whether it came to writing a formal letter to our School Principal or caption writing for the clients, it was difficult to cope with, every time.

However, when I knew what to write, along with a lot of practice and mistakes, you can improve at anything and I improved at this.

After 250+ blog posts, various articles and ‘n’ number of posts created on my various profiles, I’ve finally overcome it.

Next on my list is to overcome my fear of looking at the camera lens and speaking!

All you require is a bit of confidence, practice and not to look at others and get worried with what they are doing! Also, remember that they started way before you did.

What you think, how you think, why you think – its all important – it sets the baseline – it defines your actions and your executions.

Which is why it’s said that you need to have control of your mind, control of your thoughts, control of that thought structure – Mindset is the most important thing in your life.

In every situation, you have two options – focus on the positive or focus on the negative.

Most of the times, we look at the downside – this shouldn’t have happened with me/ why did this happen / am I the only one / what more can I do/ why am I not getting anything

This leads to unhappiness, self-doubt, fixed mindset, negative thoughts, negative actions.

How can you be happy then? How can you have more? How can you grow?
There’s only one answer.

Have empathy towards others. You don’t know what’s going on in their lives – you have no idea why they are doing what they are doing, you have no idea why they are saying what they are saying. There’s always another perspective.

Judging others never helps anyone and always wastes your time too. It’s time to grow up, stay in your lane and focus on yourself. Live and let live.

  • Living In The Past

– Pondering over our past actions, thinking we should have done something differently or a decision taken differently creates problems in the present and the future.
– The past cannot be changed, or altered, you have to live with every decision you make, with the path you take and live with it and not let it falter your future.

  • Over-Thinking

– One of the biggest things to start handling and ultimately giving up is over-thinking.
– Over-Thinking about what to do, how to go about anything, thinking about things not in our control – all of it creates problems in our mindset, on a micro and macro level.

  • Listening to People’s Opinions

– For everything you do, either before or after, everyone around you has an “opinion” to share.
– Usually, most of these opinions don’t matter nor are they constructive. They only hinder our growth and our decision-making.
– Listening to People’s opinions should be a priority when it comes to giving up things for a positive and a healthy mindset.

None of them can be accomplished in a day, and even when you are aware, it takes time to make it a part of your lifestyle. Practice, practice and practice is the answer – work on them one by one and let the change happen.

This is also where gratitude comes in! When you’re grateful for what you have, you can then enjoy and cherish that and be happy about it.

Human beings have been trained to want stuff, more and more stuff, and only after achieving something do you get the happiness out of it – that’s the way we have been looking at things.

How about we change that?
Be grateful to everything we have and more, be happy with every tiny thing that you get to enjoy, that you get to be a part of and when that perspective changes, enjoy that happiness too!

People have a lot of expectations from others…

And, for everything you want in your life, there’s some expectation from someone for something.

“I did something for you and now I expect you to do something for me in return”

The problem with expectations is that, you give to take, not to just give and that’s it. When the former happens, everything is a transaction for you and there’s no action without a consequence for you!

But, expectations are the worst!

Irrespective of the transactional mindset already being a problem, others might not think what you think and they don’t expect to do something just because… (various reasons added here).

And, now you, who was expecting something, feel let down, because in your mind, you “expected” them to do your task and now you don’t see eye-to-eye with that person.

Expectations are horrible and shouldn’t be on your mind in the first place! You’d be much more peaceful and calm without them. Be 100% accountable for your actions and ASK when there’s something you want.

There’s a lot of negativity in this world, especially with the access of social media platforms in the palm of people’s hands.

People hate each other, they want to feel superior than others, their ego doesn’t let them grow with others. The entitlement is enormous to create a rift with the close ones. With the internet, people now have the power to spread negativity in a matter of seconds – one hate comment here, one death threat there, there’s no healthy discussions in most places.

People aren’t kind to each other. When were you last walking and someone smiled at you or waved you a Good Morning? People all, but care about themselves. All busy, chasing something.

The ratio of people with the light, with the change is less at the moment, but we can change that one person at a time.

Your mornings set up how your day will turn out to be, and your morning rituals decide how your morning will turn out to be.

If you have a cranky start to your day, the entire day’s mood will be the same. Have a positive start to your day and the entire day’s mood will be positive.

How?
These six morning rituals will help you kickstart the day the right way – they take time to become a part of your daily routine – however, once they turn into habits, the results start appearing.

A. Stay away from your screen for the first 90 minutes

  • When you pick up your phone the first thing when you wake up, instead of enjoying the morning, instead of filling your mind with positive thoughts, instead of being grateful, you are filling it with unneeded information at the time.
  • Also, how important can any notification be, work is priority, but it starts after a specific time; and if it’s not work-related, then what’s the point of checking all the notifications at that moment.

B. Make your Bed

  • There are multiple reasons to making your bed first thing in the morning, one of them is accomplishing tasks. When you accomplish this micro task, you’ve set the mood to accomplish more of such micro tasks in the day and make the day a successful one.
  • The second reason is habits creation; when you do it on a daily basis – it quickly becomes a habit. It also allows you to instill such similar habits one-by-one in order to improve your lifestyle.

C. Be Grateful

  • The first thoughts of your day, when you wake up, should be positive. Think positive, have a positive approach to your day and more importantly, be grateful for everything you have and everything that you’re thankful for.
  • Gratitude fills you with positivity and happiness – you feel thankful for eveything that you get to do, that you get to be, that you have.
  • Every morning, be grateful for at least three things that are important to you and think about it for a while before you begin with your day.

D. Drink a Glass of Water

  • Once you’ve made your bed, and with gratitude on your mind, the next important thing is to have a glass of water in the morning.
  • It, of course, hydrates you after a good sleep, secondly, flushes out your body toxins and also gives your brain fuel for the day.
  • This goes without saying that you should keep hyrating yourself on a hourly basis and have sufficient amount of water over the day.

E. Go for a Run

  • This is a choice for people, whether to go in the morning or in the evening – but it’s crucial to have some exercise during the day.
  • Preferably, morning is recommended because it kickstarts your day like nothing else, you’re charged for the entire day and you’re pumped up for your next task of the day.
  • Also, it not only gives you a physical boost, but it has an impact mentally too, helps you to clear out your mind, your stress and helps you to think more clearly.

F. Plan out your Day

  • Usually, people do this task the day before, but if you like to keep everything on a day-to-day basis, then you should definitely plan out your day in the morning only.
  • Have a clear outlook of your day, what needs to be done and what needs to be prioritised and not do things on the go, because that definitely doesn’t work out long-term.

Every day of your life is important, and every day needs to be utilised at its best. In order to do so, the best way forward is to have a good morning routine and have a positive and fresh start to your day.

From not exercising from 2016 to 2018, to now not missing a day of exercise since the last 100 days, it’s been a roller-coaster! 🤪

There were times when I was physically feeling low, or health wise, or I was travelling, but nothing could stop that persistence of going again the next day!

These 100 days have taught me so much and have had such a positive impact on me – physically obviously, but mentally and spiritually too!

And, of course, completing 100 Days is no way an end, but just the beginning of a beautiful journey and I now hope to carry on as much as I can.

I know this, the moment I feel I’m not doing enough, another 100 days will start yet again! Although, I do feel, unless absolutely necessary, I’ll try my best to go on, every day, as much as possible!

I’d also like to add that this is the best start anyone can have – just start, forget new year resolutions, start now, have a target and don’t stop! ❤️

Life is about ups and downs. Whenever there’s a down, it also means that you’re going to rise from it and be at the top again.

It also means that you won’t stay at the top for long, and there’ll be a down soon and you should be ready for it instead of being stressed about it or dwell about it when it happens.

When was the last time we focused on ourselves? When did we take a step back or rather stayed still and thought about us – who we are?

I was the person I’m referring to, in the first paragraph! I had been living it, without realizing the mistakes – because that’s what the society taught us, because that’s how everything is around us.

Something clicked within me, that things are going good but I’m not content with it. That its time for a change. That I’ve to change myself, in order to grow.

When you ponder over yourself, when your only goal is to learn more, about what is right – you seek knowledge and nothing else.

And in this process, you improve yourself. Improve as a better version of yourself! A 2.0, if that explains better.

With a good period of time spent on this and having realized that the process is long but enjoyable – I learnt this, the only way forward is to improve yourself and nothing else.

Consciously or sub-consciously, all of us are trying to keep up with the “Joneses”. Now is the time we realise the mistakes we’ve been making! It shouldn’t matter to you what the others are doing if you are satisfied with your everyday life! We fall for worldly possessions because we see someone else accomplish something and now we want the same.

Someone else means your friends, your colleagues, and even those you follow on social media. The current trend is tied in with posting every expensive stuff you buy or do on social media. Now more than ever, it’s about telling others what you are doing rather than for your self-interest!

Ask yourself three questions the next time you do anything,
1. Am I buying this product/service because of self-interest?
2. Is this bringing value to me?
3. Do you care about other’s opinions?

There’s a mindset ingrained in us since childhood, about working Monday to Friday and then enjoying the weekends!

Everyone hates Mondays and calls it the ‘Monday Blues’! Come Wednesday; people start talking about their Friday and Saturday Night plans. Why?
There’s no harm to enjoy the day off but first, live each day to its fullest. Maximise your potential for that particular day, and when the time comes, you cool it off!

Bars and clubs out there have started exploiting this weekend mindset and provide you with mid-week and Friday night offers. Falling into their traps, you spend thousands of hard-earned bucks on just three-four hours worth of satisfaction and luxury, only to do it the next week again. Moreover, what are you achieving out of it?

Think about it from the long-term perspective. Does that activity bring any value addition to your life? People have their own choices, but at the same time, enjoy your other days too instead of wasting them on something you don’t love; only to wait for the weekends and curse Monday yet again.

Do what you love every day, rather than waiting for the Fridays and Saturdays.

Weekends are a boon to us! How about productively executing it to achieve your goals? Work on your personal development, act on those goals we’ve been trying to accomplish, finish your side hustle project! These points only matter when you know your vision!

Inspiration is not something you force upon someone; one attracts it when they need it. Meaning, only when you keep an open mindset, will you accept it and allow it to change your life.

When do you need Inspiration?
A. When you have a stagnant routine

This is the point when you look for inspiration. You desire a change in your life. You aspire to do what you love. When that happens, you’ll be content every minute of every day and not think regarding anything else.

・When you’re stuck in a specific point of your life.

This is the moment when you realise that you want a diversion in your thought process which will help you reach your destination. You want to improve in a better version of yourself.

・You’ve limited knowledge. No matter how much you study and learn and experience, you still crave it more.
・You wish to discover more about your industry or other sectors of your interest.

This is the thought process when you’d like to learn more. You follow certain people, and you start listening to them. An endless process, one, out of which you’ll come out as a better person.

How to motivate yourself on a daily basis?

Can you put in the same efforts and work with the same positive mindset towards your goals, every day? Sometimes, we don’t feel that push! There are inconsistent days, and during that time, we want to proceed with our day and move on to the next one, hoping for a more positive day with more accomplishments.

So, how do you stay motivated daily?

Here are a few pointers, which have helped me and could help you too!

  1. Have a macro goal in your mind; what do you want to achieve? That goal firstly should motivate you enough to push you a macro level. However, what about the micro situation, day-to-day?
  2. Reverse-engineer that goal into smaller goals, the more achievable targets, set for a yearly – monthly – weekly – daily basis.
  3. Write down your goals every day. Journalize it.
  4. Write down the tasks for the day beforehand. Either the night before or early morning, before you start your day. You now have the motivation to complete those tasks and check them off.
  5. After this, we still tend to bounce off track, so to keep yourself in check, you should surround yourself with daily inspirational material, wallpapers, social media accounts that you’re following, apps on your phone, people that you talk/meet.
  6. Most importantly, discipline is vital. Discipline keeps you in check, makes you complete all your tasks, enables you to push yourself towards your goals, and creates time from all your daily chores for your productive work.

In this social media era, where it’s about the “image“, people have these perceptions, looking at other accounts that how perfect or rather, glamorous the other people’s lives are.

We assume that they don’t have problems in their lives.

Everyone has problems. Micro issues, macro dilemmas, they all exist.

One cannot have the context of another person’s life, how they live, what makes them happy, and yet, everyone compares their journey with others.

This is the reasons behind the constant statement, ‘Focus on Yourself‘ because everything can seem shiny when we see only one side of the coin.

Travel is the best investment in your life that makes you more productive. More productive in your life, your mindset, your thoughts, it makes everything clearer.

Often, people say – “This place is too expensive” or “This is a huge investment”. Travel need not be international; it can be anything – a one day trip/ a weekend getaway or a whole week off – whatever suits you. Travelling somewhere is more important.

In a typical scenario, for most people, out of the 24 hours every day, you usually work for 8-9 hours, and you sleep for 7-8 hours. For arguments’ sake, let’s add another 2 hours for your breakfast/ lunch and dinner.

In this extreme scenario, which isn’t the same for all, there’s still another 6 hours left for productive use.

During discussions, the topic tends to sway towards, ‘I had work‘ and ‘I didn’t get time‘. However, when you manage your time accurately, you’ve all the time in the world.

Either for your side hustle, either for your personal development, there’s always this extra set of hours which we tend to ignore.

Let’s apply all the hours you’re awake for, in the best possible manner.

Breakfast: Yay or Nay?

I think it’s essential to start the day with a proper breakfast.

Before I answer the ‘Why?’, all of those ‘breakfast-skippers‘ should make a resolution, to start the day only when you’ve had breakfast – and then begin with the rest of your daily activities.

It takes a sheer determination to initiate this habit, and if you’re not, then it’s just the excuses you’re making to avoid it.

Here’s the ‘Why’

  • It provides the fuel in your body – which in turn improves your concentration and productivity for the day.
  • Eating a nutritious breakfast keeps you in check – physically and mentally.
  • It sets the right appetite for the day, when you’ve eaten the proper meals, then you don’t tend to rely on junk food since you’ll feel the hunger at the appropriate times only.
  • Keeping your body hungry until lunch also changes your moods and behaviour – makes you short-tempered at times.
  • If you’re skipping breakfast to lose weight, then this concerns you – “You are trying to lose weight since months, but the weighing scale hasn’t budged even one mark backwards. Why? It’s because your body metabolism is going down instead of increasing. Staying hungry doesn’t make you lose. Eating healthy makes it possible.”

All stats aside, breakfasts are the best, aesthetically delectable. How can one miss the joy of parathas, sandwiches, omelettes, pancakes, waffles, milkshakes? It’s the best of the best.

Without a doubt, once you set your mind and form the habit, then you will never say the line – “I didn’t have time for breakfast.” It’s an excuse – which will surely have a long-term impact, if not short-term. Think about 10/20/30 years down the line, and make that decision right now.

The happiness of having this life, where we have the advantage and the choice of working towards those dreams.

That self-realisation is so vital to remember; it’s what pushes us further. There will be struggles, the downs, the frustration. However, the purest joy to have this chance of overcoming them makes the whole thought of ‘Why is Life so tough’ disappear.
