Book In Focus : Daily Inspiration from the Monk who sold his Ferrari
Author : Robin Sharma
Irrespective of having read ‘The Monk who sold his Ferrari’ or not, this book is a deep dive into the important lessons shared in that one – divided into tiny bits of inspirational material, one per day, in its entirety covering 365 days of the year.
This is one of those picks which aren’t supposed to be read altogether, but, one per day, depending on what date it is.
Why should you read the current day’s bit and not the ones before or after? Well, you should focus on the day you’re living, be in the present and not focus on the past or the future.
Coming back to the book, reading it everyday and also, at the same time, sharing it with others was a blessing in disguise, because the daily bits focused on such important elements of life – that it made it that much more valuable having focused on one bit – learning it, understanding it, implementing it – and then, focusing on the next bit on the next day.
That is how I’d summarize this book, it’s a good read, one that goes on for an entire year, and can also be repeated every other year too – because why not, those lessons have importance in our lives on a day-to-day.
This is also a perfect time to pick up this book, with 1st Jan coming along and you could then read it exactly for a year, start to end.
Imagine how much of this time is spent by you thinking about the past.
About your past decisions, about the steps taken, how you would’ve done something differently.
Its so easy to think about all of this – it’s easy because you can only waste your time thinking about it, you cannot change anything.
That wasted time is taking time out of your present, and that pondering over isn’t letting you decide your present and your future.
“Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.” – Will Rogers
What’s gone is gone, let’s focus on today, let’s focus on making tomorrow better, let’s focus on making the changes that we can make today that will form our future and also be grateful for every decision previously taken, that has brought us to where we are today.
Education is limited, and knowledge is limitless!
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin
To keep evolving,
to learn new things,
to expand your current knowledge base,
to develop in different unknown sectors,
Reading is the answer.
Books/ Case Studies/ Articles/ Blogs all come under reading, wherever you get to learn something valuable.
From all the advantages of reading, here are a few that I’ve noticed:
1. Increases concentration and productivity
2. Enhances creativity
3. Changes your perspective
4. Learning new things (that’s obvious though)
5. Developing your knowledge base

• What Songs Taught Us #12 – Believer •
Song In Focus : Believer
Artist : Imagine Dragons
Listening to the song makes you think that someone is sharing their story through the song, which may be true, but it definitely has a deeper meaning to it.
It portrays the pain in every person’s life and the experiences that one gets to learn from those pains.
Every experience makes you look at things differently, changes you a little, and at the same time, makes you better than before.
This doesn’t mean one should look for more pains in their lives, but it means that instead of looking at the negative aspects in those situations, look at the positive too – when if you wouldn’t have experienced that, you wouldn’t have learnt something at all.
Give it a listen and see whether you can relate to this lesson or not! #WhatSongsTaughtUs
“The mind is everything. What you think you become.” – Buddha
Mindset is Everything.
Whether it’s your routine, or your work, or your personal life, or your goals, your dreams, everything revolves around your mindset.
You need to have the right kind of mindset to move forward in life, to set the right rhythm amongst all the phases of your life, to be happy/ satisfied.
That process starts from your thoughts. Your thoughts define everything in your life.
What you think, how you think, why you think – its all important – it sets the baseline – it defines your actions and your executions.
Ultimately, you become what you think.
Which is why it’s said that you need to have control of your mind, control of your thoughts, control of that thought structure – Mindset is the most important thing in your life.
“What makes you different or weird—that’s your strength.” – Meryl Streep
Everyone’s chasing to be perfect, without realizing that perfect doesn’t exist.
What makes us, humans, different from each other, and at the same time, makes us unique, are our imperfections!
Those imperfections that make us” different” or “weird” is actually our strength – then why should we change it.
It makes us unique in our own way.
Love them! Cherish them! Flaunt them!
Know thy imperfections – because those make you perfect in your own way! ❤️
In every situation, you have two options – focus on the positive or focus on the negative.
Most of the times, we look at the downside – this shouldn’t have happened with me/ why did this happen / am I the only one / what more can I do/ why am I not getting anything
This leads to unhappiness, self-doubt, fixed mindset, negative thoughts, negative actions.
How can you be happy then? How can you have more? How can you grow?
There’s only one answer.
• Focus on the Positive •
You can learn to always see the good in situations, in people. You can cherish that you get the opportunity to do anything in the first place. You can be grateful for the things you have. You can be happy with everything that life has given you.
You have the power to do all this.
Focusing on the positive allows you to do this.
It breathes a new life into you, a new mindset, fresher thoughts, positive actions, a new you.
Why wouldn’t anyone want that?
The choice is yours.
