Instagram Reach has gone for a toss

Instagram Reach has gone for a toss

If you actively post on Instagram, then you must have noticed that the organic reach has gone for a toss.

It is true for all accounts, but more so for the micro creators.

And this reach has affected all types of posting, whether an Instagram Story or an Instagram post.

This change, however coincides with the introduction of Instagram Reels to the app.

In a rush towards promoting their Reels feature and trying to make it a success, their algorithm change has affected everything else for the creators.

By this, Instagram wants to unofficially say that one should either post a Reel or take the hit of their usual form of content not reaching to the regular amount of people or more.

They have played it quite smartly here, to be honest, because this feature of Reels is a direct competitor to TikTok and the upcoming short form video apps that have already hit the market and trying to make their base.

In such a turn of events, of course they’d like to make this feature a hit and get an established base of short form video creators on their app itself.

Nonetheless, it is hurting the other avenues, whether someone would agree to that or not.

Now, as a creator, either one should try and experiment with different avenues of posting other than Instagram and grow their branches out to other places or ride in the wave of creating Reels too.

Consume before you Create

Consume before you Create

Quite a few number of times, one of the issues, especially when it comes to creating content for the first comes down to this…

“I have no idea how to start creating and how should I proceed.”

At such a point, instead of jumping on to courses and curricula, another thing that could be done on our own is to research.

Based on the platform where you want to create content, consume some content out there, understand what the creators are doing, how they post about their interests and how does their community react to their content.

With such a simple process, there’s so much learning that can be done without any academic learning of sorts.

Consume, learn, experiment, test and finally, start creating.

1 tip to start creating Content

1 tip to start creating Content

Often when it comes to creating content, the one question on everybody’s minds is the same… “What type of content should I create?”

What type of content would work for me? What should I create that would give me engagement?

Going after trends, going after how algorithm works, there’s a lot of processes but it never works when it comes to creating content.

What works is really simple…

Create content about what you know.

What you know is already within you.

It’s already a strength for you.

And probably you read about it, you watch something about it in order to make yourself better at it.

In that process, you also deepen your understanding and broaden your viewpoint of what you know.

Looking at it from that perspective, the best tip for anyone wanting to create content comes down to this baseline…

Create about what you know.

3 Questions to ask yourself before you post anything!

3 Questions to ask yourself before you post anything!

Whenever anyone is wanting to create content for any social media platform, one of the questions that arise in their mind is, ‘Will this post work?’
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s a constant worry around this question and sometimes it stops people from posting what they truly want to share. In a constant dilemma of engagement, what gets affected is the content.

To solve that issue in the easiest manner I could think of, here are 3 questions you should ask yourself before you post anything –

1. Is this genuine to me or am I posting just for the sake of it?

2. Does this provide value to my audience?

3. Would I consume this if it came on my feed?

Simple questions to which if you could answer truthfully, you’ll find out that any and all types of content is post-worthy and there are no selection criteria to it.
