When you aren’t passionate about work!

When you aren’t passionate about work!

You must have noticed this, in conversations with friends and family, or even with colleagues, the conversations usually tend to revolve around work.

It’s a phase of life we are in, where everyone is interested with what’s going on with the other person’s work life and whatever you get to learn from that conversation then.

Now, in such a scenario, if you don’t like what you do, if you aren’t passionate about it, then how do you think will you talk about it time and again?

However, this also indicates something important here – it’s an indicator for you to understand how much you love what you do and if, you need to change that.

Talking about work is something so marvelous, it’s one-third of your life (or more in totality) – if you don’t enjoy what you do, it’s time to change that because everything is in your hands.

The Hard Thing about Hard Things by Ben Horowitz (Review)

The Hard Thing about Hard Things by Ben Horowitz (Review)

Whether you’re already running a business and wanting to scale up or you’re planning to start one or if you’re in an executive/ managerial role – this book is for you.

Ben Horowitz shares his journey and all kinds of insights he gathered in his entrepreneurial roller-coaster ride.

This book is a legit business book, that should technically be taught in schools and colleges – it’s a deep dive into the world of Entrepreneurship – everything from execution to scaling up to funding to handling your executive team to your employees to exiting and everything in between.

In all the books I’ve read until now – this is the best book you could read, when it comes to actually running a business.

Pick up this one, if you belong to any of three scenarios mentioned in the first paragraph – you won’t keep it down unless you’re done with it.

Shoe Dog by Phil Knight (Review)

Shoe Dog by Phil Knight (Review)

Phil Knight is not just one of the best entrepreneurs out there, but a brilliant storyteller too.

He takes you on a journey, his journey, full of ups and downs, into making what Nike is today.

His storytelling is so apt and vivid, that you feel you’re on this journey with him. You’re able to imagine when he paints the picture, you want to know what his next step is going to be, how is he going to solve the next problem. You’re just holding onto the book and want to read page after page.

Every great journey starts with a Crazy Idea, and Phil Knight shares everything, right from the inception to the making to its problems and it’s growth. Nike is a brand everyone is fascinated with, everyone wants to own a piece of it, however, very few people know the story behind it and how interesting it is.

This is a business book which every current and future entrepreneur should read, it paints you the real picture of entrepreneurship, what it takes to build a business, how persistent you need to be, how calm you need to be during the gravest of problems, and how important a team around you is.

Everyone sees a brand what they are today, everyone sees what Nike is today, but we hardly realize the years it took to be what it is, the hardships the company faced, the innovations it did, some successful and some not, the learnings you get from that – this is a picture of real entrepreneurship.

Phil Knight, you’re a genius.

Life in the Entrepreneurial sector vs Advertising sector

Life in the Entrepreneurial sector vs Advertising sector

The irony of life! Don’t get me wrong, ideation and execution both are important! What differs is their importance in specific circumstances!

Life in the Entrepreneurial sector,
Execution > Ideas.
– Ideas come occasionally. That’s the easy part!
– The idea with the most potential, the idea you are most passionate about, to work day in and day out, should be your priority.
– Once you narrow it down, the execution is the difficult and important part of this process.
– I’ve heard this so many times, when someone had an idea, but didn’t execute it because of various reasons. If the idea is legit, you have to execute. You have to try it.
– Once you begin, you won’t stop.

Life in the Advertising sector,
Ideas > Execution
– On the other hand, in the advertising industry, the execution matters 100 per cent. Whether your campaign is a success or not, whether you’ve reached to your audience and whether they received the message, you were trying to send, matters.
– At the same time, the idea is more important. Out of all the ideas, the idea chosen has the potential to get more results.
– The potential everyone saw in the idea, and scrapped the others for it says it all, ideas > execution.
.
.
What’s the purpose behind this post?
・Be aware of the life you’re living, and how everyday learning is affecting your life.
・Ideas matter, period. Execution matters, period.
・Focus on what’s important and don’t procrastinate by blaming either for your faults.

My 1-on-1 with Grant Cardone!

According to the Law of Attraction, it is said that, what you chase runs away from you!

This statement was on my mind for a while, and especially with regards to money!

When I had the opportunity to ask Grant Cardone a question, I thought this is the best question I could ask to someone who has the motto to 10X everything!

How do you build a successful team? – Google

How do you build a successful team? – Google

Every organization’s success is because of its team and its efforts.

Google has been studying the workplace culture of successful companies and came up with the following pointers that make them successful!

There is no Backup to Entrepreneurship

There is no Backup to Entrepreneurship

If entrepreneurship is something that flows within you, then you wouldn’t want to do anything else; there is no backup.

There’s a certain aura of doing it on your own, no matter how small or big, that makes you want to do it even more. The vision, the passion, the energy, the struggles, the journey is so incredible; you just love it.

When you create your company, it becomes your baby, your child; you want to grow it, you want to nurture it and take care of it. The words may seem out of context, but it’s not, it’s the truth.

No matter how many backups you create, if entrepreneurship is within you, you’ll do whatever it takes, start ‘x’ number of companies until you make it, but you shall keep doing so. #Facts

Consistency is Key

Consistency is Key

At every level of business, you need consistency at a certain level, before you move on to the next step.

Consistency is vital when it comes to running a business.

An entrepreneur would imagine a certain level of business growth for his business to run successfully; however, at the same time, one also needs to be consistent with their execution.

You might shoot for the stars, but you must first reach the roof of your building. #ConsistencyIsKey

It’s okay to take a break!

It’s okay to take a break!

Graduated in May 2015. Zazz Media started in December 2015. What happened in those six months?

The entrepreneurial spirit always existed within me. I knew; eventually, I’d build something – although, I didn’t possess the answers for the what, when and how.

Coming from our stressful education system, teaching us all but the same principles, those six tension-free months was a blessing! No responsibilities, no plans, no routine! Nothing valuable happened during that period. Although, in hindsight, I’m happy I took that decision because that brought me to where I am today!

Proceeding down this path gave me the push, the energy to accomplish something. That realisation was important!

It’s up to you, whether you’d like to take a break or not. However, remember this – If you can take a break, do it for yourself. Please don’t rush into decisions, because you got pressured into it. When that happens, you don’t make choices out of happiness.

the Story of my first start-up – Shreyan Rohit Productions

the Story of my first start-up – Shreyan Rohit Productions

#ThrowbackStory #FirstStartUp #2014
During college, back in 2014, specialising in entrepreneurship and simultaneously studying a photography course led me to start a production firm called Shreyan Rohit Productions.

0% professional + 5% personal experience – having just studied the basics. However, this profession had an energy/ an aura around it that created this hunger inside me to accomplish something, and right now itself. #2014Thoughts

Long story short, approached Shreyan Ghosh, a college acquaintance at the time – also, a skilled, knowledgeable photographer wanting to grow into this field – and asked whether he’d like to partner up for such an idea (of doing this professionally). At first, both of us were hesitant – since we didn’t know how to proceed or even if we got the project in hand, how would we execute it.

However, as they say, you can achieve anything, once you set your mind towards it. For us, we only wanted to start and experience this field’s professional aspect – with no end goals in mind.

Fast forward to making 15+ videos and photo shoots – 5+ clients – hiring editors and photographers to help along the projects – creating the brand design with no knowledge of its know-how. In the end, this was a fantastic experience altogether – full of struggles and learning.

Somehow, late 2014, both of us drifted regarding the professional shoots – focusing at the end of our college year and ultimately, it came to an end.
If I had to travel back in time and modify one element of this journey, I wouldn’t change anything, because I loved all of it – every lesson we learned – every downfall we faced – all the firsts, whether it was creating a logo or approaching a client or mailing an invoice.

Shreyan Rohit Productions, the end.
Big shoutout to @shreyantito who was a part of this journey, along with me – what started as approaching an acquaintance to become a business partner ended up with us becoming brothers for life.

Do you have an idea?

Believe it or not, ideas are easy; what matters is the following,

  • What is your USP?
  • Is the plan sustainable?
  • Are you thinking from the long-term perspective or just turning a quick buck around?
  • What are your intentions?

Knowing these answers will help you reverse-engineer your idea’s potential and whether you should proceed with it.

All you need to do is, mix it with passion and execution, and you’re all set.

Do Micro Goals Matter?

Do Micro Goals Matter?

Micro or Macro, every goal is meaningful to our lives.

Have a vision of your macro objective, and accordingly break it down to micro goals, so you know your path to reach the ultimate point. The micro goals provide the fuel in our life that take us forward and help us reach the ultimate macro goal.

When you have a timeline of your goal, and if you’ve got the determination and the will to achieve it, then you’ll always find a way. These goals vary person to person, and at the end, only you know your desires. Be it freedom, luxury, a stress-free life, or any of the goals on your mind.
