Shoe Dog by Phil Knight (Review)

Shoe Dog by Phil Knight (Review)

Phil Knight is not just one of the best entrepreneurs out there, but a brilliant storyteller too.

He takes you on a journey, his journey, full of ups and downs, into making what Nike is today.

His storytelling is so apt and vivid, that you feel you’re on this journey with him. You’re able to imagine when he paints the picture, you want to know what his next step is going to be, how is he going to solve the next problem. You’re just holding onto the book and want to read page after page.

Every great journey starts with a Crazy Idea, and Phil Knight shares everything, right from the inception to the making to its problems and it’s growth. Nike is a brand everyone is fascinated with, everyone wants to own a piece of it, however, very few people know the story behind it and how interesting it is.

This is a business book which every current and future entrepreneur should read, it paints you the real picture of entrepreneurship, what it takes to build a business, how persistent you need to be, how calm you need to be during the gravest of problems, and how important a team around you is.

Everyone sees a brand what they are today, everyone sees what Nike is today, but we hardly realize the years it took to be what it is, the hardships the company faced, the innovations it did, some successful and some not, the learnings you get from that – this is a picture of real entrepreneurship.

Phil Knight, you’re a genius.

The Secret by Rhonda Bryne (Review)

The Secret by Rhonda Bryne (Review)

• What Books Taught Us #3 •

Book In Focus : The Secret
Author : Rhonda Bryne

The Secret is an easy-to-read book on the Law of Attraction, what is it, how do you use it, what kind of affect does it have on your life, happiness, success, work, relationships and more, with real-life examples.

You could try to use it in the tiniest of things and believe it for yourself and then use it to achieve what you want to.

If the book had to be summed up in a few words, especially to a non-believer, it should be done in this way…

According to science and statistics, a human being has approximately 50,000 to 80,000 thoughts in a day, imagine that!

Now what do you think during this time has an impact on your actions, on what you speak, on how you react.

Positive Thoughts – Positive Actions – Positive Results, it’s as simple as that.

Of course, this is just a one-liner summary of the entire book, and there’s a lot more to uncover when you read the book, but this book is an eye-opener and should be in your books to read in your lifetime.

Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk (Book Review)

Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk (Book Review)

Let me start by saying that the concept of the book, the thought process is so fantastic, how marketing has been resonated with boxing and how the boxing terms resonate here is mind blowing!

This and the awesome content inside describes the Marketing brilliance, i.e. Gary Vaynerchuk.

With the major platforms covered and how as a brand, you should focus on providing value to the audience and create native content as per the platform you’re posting on. What is also covered is a deep dive into brands’ social media accounts, the content we can learn from and also the content that shouldn’t have been done at all.

Let’s also point to the fact, how aesthetically beautiful the book is, with the hardcover, the fonts, the colours, the gloss print – it just added so much value to the content of the book.

If you’re into marketing or social media, or if you’re running a brand, you should give this book and Crushing It a read for sure, some excellent marketing insights.

Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook is recommended.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (Review)

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (Review)

Do you believe in the Law of Attraction?

Do you believe that Mindset is the key to unlocking life?

Do you want to know how the successful people have made it all this while?

Some may have realized it and some haven’t, but the process is the same.

Mindset!

This classic, best-selling book since ages is the key to unlocking these questions.

It explains everything you need to know, the WHY, the HOW, the WHAT.

Some things could be believed, some could be understood, but we as humans need examples to believe in the statements produced, and this book does just that.

In my opinion, if you have read ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Bryne, Think and Grow Rich is a more refined and a professional version of that book.

If you have already read the Secret, this is a perfect read because your base is already established and you can understand the author’s viewpoint a bit faster and in an easier manner than usual.

This book is surely a must have in the list of books to read in your lifetime.

It provides a lot of value and surely useful if you apply it to your life.

This is Marketing by Seth Godin (Review)

This is Marketing by Seth Godin (Review)

If you don’t know who Seth Godin is, I’d suggest you Google him and find out – the guy is a legend, so insightful and brilliant, be it his books, his keynote or his podcasts, he always stuns you with his knowledge on the subject of marketing.

This is one of the best books in this category, with so much information that it’ll definitely give you a new outlook on Marketing!

What Marketing is supposed to be, How marketers should approach the market, the pointers you should keep in mind, this book covers it all.

More importantly, the book also gives you an insight of looking at the market, if you’re a consumer.

In this age of marketing, where ads are being thrown on us with selling products and services, and hardly anyone taking care of the consumers, it is important to notice which brand do you align yourself with.

The values that the brand is providing, how do the other consumers align themselves with the brand, and is there any synergy or not.

This book is everything and I’d absolutely recommend it to be in your top 10 books to read list.
