The soft spot of Perfection

The soft spot of Perfection

RTH24 - Blog Banners (575)

The ones we admire, the ones we compare ourselves to, or compare others to, the ones we seek inspiration from – where does it come from?

We feel they are perfect – perfect in who they are, in what they do, so much so that we almost want to live their lives.

However, we forget that these “perfections” have a ton of baggages attached to them as well, and only the ones who have them know about them.

No one else.

Admirations, Comparisons and Inspirations come from the soft spot of perfection or our illusion of it.

In such a scenario, would you still want to live their life?

Or would you then just learn their ups and downs, live your own life, and try to implement or not implement from those inspirations and admirations?

What would you then choose for yourself?

Would you be aware of something or be in ignorance of it?

Would you be aware of something or be in ignorance of it?

If you had a choice, would you become aware of something or rather be in ignorance of it?

Is that question too complicated or confusing?

Let me explain it a bit further.

In any area of your life, there are moments – whether through your own mistakes, or through someone’s advice, or through external learning, when you get the chance to be aware of something?

Something that you were doing wrong, or something you didn’t know about – now there’s a moment when you can learn about it and implement it to your life.

The second option is to ignore it.

Let it be as it is.

By ignoring it, you choose to not learn something new, you choose to not improve at that certain something, you choose to not implement it in your life.

Let me ask you again, when such a moment arises, would you become aware of something or be in ignorance or it?

Pieces of the Puzzle

Pieces of the Puzzle

If you already have all the pieces of the puzzle, why haven’t you solved the puzzle yet?

Or probably you don’t have all the pieces yet, or how about none?

Would you accept that though?

Sometimes overconfidence and arrogance takes over our emotions and we feel/ show we have the pieces already, basically being a know it all.

In reality, its clouding our own mind and limiting our growth.

When you aren’t ready to accept that you don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle, it is you who will be affected, no one else.

Your path, your journey, your goals.

It takes the removal of your ego and the acceptance that you have yet to grow, when you also accept you need the other pieces to complete your puzzle.

Then, help shall be given to you when you ask for it. You shall receive the other pieces, the knowledge you seek, the tools you need.

You’ll then truly be able to have all the pieces. It’s a process, it’s a journey, you can’t have it all in a day, but you need to be ready to accept them too.

Knowing yourself is a journey

Knowing yourself is a journey

One of the best things about life is about being self aware, about knowing yourself.

If you know yourself, if you’re aware of who you are, you are aware of your thoughts, your emotions, your interests.

Knowing that, or rather understanding that about yourself is an advantage few people get to experience.

However, knowing yourself is not a destination.

There isn’t an end point to this process.

What we have to understand is we are complicated beings, changing, evolving on a daily basis.

The more we learn, the more experience we gain, the more our thoughts change, our actions change, our emotions change.

Not just those, but our interests change too, our plans, our purpose, everything.

Knowing that, one of the biggest things we need to realize is that knowing ourself is a journey.

Of course the key is to become self aware as a process, as a tool to unlock our lives, not just to unlock a closed door.

Stand your Ground

Stand your Ground

Can you be easily swayed or are you able to stand your ground?

Anyone who gets easily affected by opinions and judgements towards them or anything that they do and then tend to change their own steps or opinions are those who are easily swayable.

This also comes from a lack of self awareness, not knowing who you are, what you stand for, what is your path.

On the contrary, someone who is strongly self aware about themselves is able to stand their ground.

They won’t let anything affect them, because within themselves they know what they stand for, in every phase of their life.

That of course doesn’t mean one can always be right, but there’s a thin line between being easily swayed and standing your ground that applies here, when you know that something really makes sense which would actually be an addition to your life.

Silencing the voice that isn’t ours

Silencing the voice that isn’t ours

Quite often, the voice in our head isn’t ours.

Over time, that voice has become an amalgamation of the society’s wants and expectations, how you will be perceived and what will not disappoint them.

Not to forget, the society includes your friends and family, your colleagues, relatives, social media and everyone else you have an interaction with.

Anytime, you wish to do something which is out of the box for you, this voice inside your head says, “you cannot do it”.

Unfortunately, listening to that voice, then makes that thing you wanted to do just a dream for you. However, what if you can take charge of your life, do things you want to and shun that voice as well?

Vincent Van Gogh has said it perfectly, “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.”

Taking that plunge is all it takes, one step at a time though, becoming self aware of your thoughts, needs and wants, owning your voice, and seeing the bright side of everything – there will be a few hiccups, but ultimately you will have your own voice that will push you to do whatever you want, irrespective of what anyone thinks and irrespective of its outcome.

Staying in your Lane

Staying in your Lane

What does it mean to stay in your lane? What good does it to you? Why should you do it?

Staying in your lane means to do what you’re good at, to execute according to your strengths and to walk on that path.

When you walk on that certain selected path, one, you have chosen to be in this lane, you’re aware of it, you’ve the knowledge of it. It’s your strength. Anything which is a strength is good for you.

Second, you are able to keep improving in your field because you understand the level of knowledge you have and how much more you have to learn.

You also become known by walking in that lane, when you share your opinions and observations about that path, people want to know more and want to learn more.

There’s only advantage for you when you walk in your lane, but the key is to identify that lane first.

That lane is not what the society tells you to walk on, or what your family tells you, that lane is a path where you’re comfortable walking on, where you enjoying walking, so much so that you can walk, jog or sprint too, you decide the pace.

However, the bottom line to excel/ succeed is to stay in your lane and then get better at it.

Question the Default!

Question the Default!

As we live each day of our lives, as we grow, as a society we also become conditioned to do the same kind of things and in the same behavior.

Everyone is programmed to do the same thing in the cycle of life. Every age group is defined by the same set of responsibilities and same set of questions and requirements and pressure.

The bigger issue is everyone follows it tiptoe without blinking an eye.

To question the default is becoming an outcast in a group and the thought of doing so becomes scarier for an individual.

However, once you question the default is when life takes a turn for you.

That is the moment when you start noticing the pattern, you start observing the behavior, you start asking the right type of questions and you jump into an ocean of the unknown.

It gives you a thrill and also opens your eyes to the reality, where you realize things can be done differently, things can be done according to how you want them to be done, by you, for you.

No asks, no requirements, no pressure.

You now set a whole new pattern for you, a whole new thought process, you’re now the outcast in a group of outcasts, with all eyes on you, but you enjoy it, because it now gives you joy and a cheer you never had before.

All this happens, just by questioning the default.

The mind can be a Wall or a Door

The mind can be a Wall or a Door

Believe it or not, your mind is powerful enough to either be a wall to you or a door. What sounds better?

Here’s how you can understand that statement.

Either the mind controls you and everything about you OR you control your mind and you mould it into how you want to run your life.

When the mind controls you, when you are not in control of your thoughts, your actions and everything else, the mind can become a wall to you.

It can stop you from doing things you’d like to do, it can become a hindrance where you feel you’re not capable of doing something or those times when you leave things to chance.

Whereas, how your mind can be a door to you is exactly in the opposite manner.

Here, when you’re in control, you’re the master of your mind, you control your thoughts, your emotions and your actions, what happens is when you want things to happen, instead of being the hindrance, your mind is rather the supporter, or a doorway to helping you out in your journey, your endeavours.

When it’s time, when it happens, maybe you realise to see the wall or the doorway, maybe then you understand this better, or maybe you choose to take the control right now itself and not let the wall appear at all, or even if it appears, you know that it’s disguised in the form of a doorway.

The voice leads to conclusion!

The voice leads to conclusion!

Most of the times, with most of our situations in life, we often jump to conclusions without even trying.

The conclusions that doing something would result in a certain way.

The conclusions that choosing another path has an outcome of a certain kind.

Now, you, personally haven’t tried and experimented with any of this!

Then, where do these conclusions come from?

There’s a voice within you that speaks of these conclusions!

That constantly speaks that why try this when you can avoid that unnecessary outcome.

Whose voice is that though?

Here’s what happens… usually…

One, we never know about the unnecessary outcome because its just one side of the coin and you never know until you try. You cannot avoid every situation because of the outcome.

Secondly, and more importantly, that voice we think is ours, isn’t actually ours.

Let me explain!

The voice inside your head is an amalgamation of everything you’ve been taught, every conversation you’ve had and every person you’ve met.

Quite often, what people do themselves and what they tell you forms into this voice in your head.

So, when this voice speaks to you, it isn’t truly yours or what you want, but people’s opinions and what they’d think when you do something is what’s embedded into this voice in your head.

Now this voice is what ultimately and unfortunately, leads you to these conclusions.

Are you carrying a heavy backpack?

Are you carrying a heavy backpack?

I have two questions for you.

Are you carrying a backpack?

And

How heavy is it?

How about two more questions?

Do you have past memories, past worries, opinions and judgments troubling you?

Is that causing the heaviness?

Anything of the past that we are holding on to forms into this backpack that we have to carry throughout.

Two things happen here…

A. The more you hold on to, the heavier it becomes. That results into you slowing down and not being able to move forward as you’d want.

B. Until you don’t realise you’re carrying this backpack, you won’t be able to get rid of it.

Before you move on, ask yourself these questions, just wonder about them for a minute because this one minute could be changing your life.

Then vs Now – What’s changed over time?

Then vs Now – What’s changed over time?

In this quest of understanding and becoming self aware about who I am, what my voice is, what my strengths and weaknesses are, how my thoughts amd actions affect me and others around me, how my habits affect me, I was in a retrospective mode thinking about all of these things.

Not just that, but who I was before, who I am now, the old me, the new me, how I have been able to pin point certain areas of my life that needed a change and then worked on it and yet, there’s so much more to work on.

This is the journey of self-improvement and everyday I’m grateful that I get to improve myself or at least become aware of what I need to improve one bit at a time.

However, doing just that made me create this list of my THEN vs NOW and what’s changed me over time.

Why am I sharing this with you?

Well, the more I learn, the more I want to share.

Not just my personal growth. But, how you can grow too, how you can improve too, how you can change your life too.

A list of such kind helps in showing that if I can change, then you can change too and if this can inspire you to take a step in that direction, then why not?
